Green construction experience
Stalco Construction employs Green practices both during project delivery and in its internal operations. The firm is a national member of the U.S. Green Building Council and many of its employees are active in USGBC’s New York City and Long Island chapters. Stalco employs LEED-certified project managers and has implemented a company-wide recycling program for waste and demolition debris. Its headquarters building incorporates many green features, such as power-saving lighting with occupancy sensor-equipped dimmers.

Due to Stalco’s experience in environmentally responsible construction, clients frequently retain the firm for projects that aim to achieve LEED ratings. One example is the 10,000-s.f., two-building Tanner Park Beach Pavilion complex in Copiaque, NY.

This LEED Silver-rated, ground-up development encompassed an innovative spray park water recirculation technology, LEED-certified bathrooms, energy-saving equipment, and locally sourced and recycled construction materials. Stalco sorted out and recycled all leftover construction materials.

Another example is the 5,000-s.f. renovation and conversion of the historic Scully Estates mansion in Islip, NY into the County Environmental Interpretive Center, which is undergoing LEED CS 2.0 Silver certification process. The Center incorporated energy efficient lighting fixtures and equipment, a water-saving plumbing system, post-consumer materials, and an on-site wastewater treatment and disposal system.
