Stalco completed a renovation and upgrade of a cardiac catheterization laboratory at the Nassau University Medical Center. Located on Level 2 of NUMC’s Dynamic Care Building, the space houses a main cath lab, a control room, a doctor’s office, a scrub room, two monitored beds for patient preparation, soiled utility and clean storage rooms, a staff lounge, and bathrooms. |
The renovated lab features the GE Healthcare Innova IGS 620 biplane X-ray fluoroscopy imaging system, Innova Central touch-screen controls, and associated support equipment and lighting. The weight of the equipment necessitated structural reinforcements in the main cath lab area, including the installation of a 13-foot-long, 1,750-lb. H-beam in the ceiling. Stalco also installed 60 power and communication wire conduits as well as Unistrut metal ceiling mounts for equipment. |
Interior finishes and fixtures include a protective lead lining of the cath lab walls; welded-seam sheet vinyl flooring in the treatment and scanning areas and VCT floors in other spaces; acoustical tile ceilings; recessed fluorescent lighting fixtures; custom millwork storage cabinets and vanities with laminate countertops; painted drywall partition walls; and oxygen, air, and vacuum lines. |
Stalco installed new HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems as well as a new process chiller on the building’s roof to address the increased heat load of the new imaging system. |
