Fort Salonga Residence
Fort Salonga, NY
Client: Private
Design/Builder:  Stalco, Cataldo Grasso Architects
Size: 9,000 s.f.
Cost: N/A
Stalco, in collaboration with Cataldo Grasso Architects, served as Design/Builder for a 9,000-s.f., three-story, waterfront residence in the historic Gold Coast section of Long Island’s affluent North Shore. Stalco completed the project on an accelerated, eight-month schedule.
The project included all design and engineering for the property and the building; extensive landscaping and site work; and construction of the main residence, front roadway, and a large pool with a stone-paved pool deck. The building features a wooden frame structural system, brick and stone exterior walls, and a natural slate roof. The cul-de-sac property includes an asphalt-surfaced, circular roadway; decorative retaining walls that support the site that is sloping towards a private beach; a drainage system; and a decorative stair leading to the beach.
The home features a porte-cochère, three-car garage, expansive second floor patio with views of Long Island Sound, and a balcony adjacent to the master bedroom. An ornamental, custom-fabricated internal stair connects all three levels.
The lower level houses a game room, office, bathroom, laundry room, and a storage room. The main floor features a large great/living room, a kitchen with a central island, a dining area, a game room, and one and a half bathrooms. The third floor features five bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a walk-in closet, three bathrooms, a game room, and a laundry room.
Finishes include a coffered ceiling in the great room, Brazilian jatoba hardwood flooring, porcelain tile in the kitchen, and Italian marble in all the bathrooms. The building’s infrastructure includes central HVAC and vacuum systems, and pre-installed telecommunications and audiovisual systems wiring.
