| Stalco served as general contractor for the new, two-story, 25,820 s.f. addition to the Westbury Middle School. The new steel frame and masonry structure features a slab-on-grade foundation and houses 10 classrooms, a science lab, a multi-purpose cafeteria/study hall as well as a computer room, wellness room, nurse’s office, principal’s office, lobby, security room, and elevator. The school serves the student population of 1,143 in grades 6-8. |

| The addition is connected to the original building through a hallway. 28,472 s.f. of the original structure has undergone selective renovations as well. These included replacement of selected windows, new ceilings, and renovations to the kitchen and corridors. Stalco altered the existing kitchen to create a food court that is accessible from two cafeterias and installed two new freezers. In addition, the bus drop-off and pick-up area as well as faculty parking were redesigned to improve the traffic flow and pedestrian and vehicular safety. |

| The project was built while the school was occupied. The Stalco team implemented extensive site safety procedures, including fencing, access controls, work outside of school hours. To avoid impacting the educational activities of the school, Stalco scheduled the most disruptive and noisy procedures during school breaks, on weekends, and in afternoons. |
